There once was a boy and there once was a girl. They fell in love.
They tried hard to deny this love, thinking things were too complicated for it to work out.
But… LOVE is LOVE. They realized what they had was special.
They would go on lots of fun dates and laugh and play. The boy moved to the ocean. The girl followed. Love kept growing.
One day the boy blurted out… “Will you marry me? Please say you’re going to marry me… someday?”
The girl blushed and smiled. She said, ”Yes I think someday perhaps when properly asked I will say yes.”
The boy continued to ask on occasion when he felt his love for her so strong, “Will you marry me? You’re going to marry me, right?”
The girl would continue to smile and blush and say… “Yes, perhaps someday.”
Then one day the boy and girl went on a hike with friends. It was a rainy cold day for a hike. But this adventurous weekend trip had been planned for months. And the boy had a special surprise for the girl, that she didn’t know about. So they drove up to Mt. Katahdin in Maine, met with friends and hiked in the rain.
Here is a poem the girl wrote to describe that day’s events.
It’s raining as I awake on hike day
And you just turn to me and say
“A little water never hurt anyone,
today will still be so much fun,
I get to climb a mountain
with the girl I love, my best friend.”
So up and up we went over rocks and roots
I wish I had some waterproof boots.
We sing and laugh and stop on bridges for quick kisses.
Tried to play pooh sticks but the water moved too quick.
We finally get to Chimney Pond, and are told we cannot go beyond.
The weather is too bad and we have come too late.
You turn to me and say, “it’s ok, it has still been great.”
We eat our lunch in a lean-to
Peanut butter and jelly for me and you.
And right there, soon after my last bite
you get down on your knee and I see a bright light
The sparkle of such a special ring
It makes me just want to sing
YES, YES, YES, a thousand times yes.
Don’t you know that I love you best.
Into your loving arms I fell,
dreamed of my future and wedding bells.
I love you so much and my promise is true
marry you and forever be is what i’ll do.
We share so much adventure and fun
I am so happy that I have found the one.

God Alina…love this poem!!! xoDenise
